If a few days ago we talked about the new 360º camera: Insta360 One, today it is the turn to talk about a cheap 360º camera, the Xiaomi Mijia 360.
A model of the Xiaomi brand, not of Yi Technology as in the case of the YI II 4K or YI 4K+, and that has spectacular technical specifications such as 3.5K video, splash resistance. Do you want to know more?
Xiaomi 360 Mijia Sphere, the 360 degrees are going strong
As we saw in the previous 360-degree camera models, more and more brands are joining the development of new 360 sports cameras, just as Samsung did with its spectacular Samsung Gear 360 or Nikon, with the Nikon KeyMission 360.
Xiaomi has arrived here, the brand that develops practically everything, to present a 360 camera model, the Xiaomi Mijia 3.5K, whose videos are perfect for sharing on 360º platforms such as YouTube or Facebook.
Technical Specifications Xiaomi 360 Camera
We see in our table format the main technical characteristics of the Mijia 360º:
Within the characteristics of the Xiaomi 360 camera, we are struck by the use of two Sony IMX 206 16MPx sensors, the same model used in the Xiaomi Action Camera model, being a sensor that undoubtedly offers good results, although it is not found in the current standards in which the 360 Mijia 3.5K should be placed.
Where Xiaomi has been completely successful is in the inclusion of the Ambarella A12 chipset, a good quality chipset, as we have seen other models of sports cameras as powerful as the ThiEye T5 or the famous and long-awaited SJCAM SJ7 Star 4K.
As a good 360º sports camera, the Xiaomi Mijia 3.5K Panorama Camera offers us two lenses, which have a field width of 190º, adding a total of 380º, perfect for fully immersive videos, and of great luminosity, thanks to its f2.0 aperture.
Xiaomi 360 Cam Mijia Design
As we can see in the images of this model that we have received, we are very struck by its compact design, with elegant lines and careful color, in which the two lenses on both sides of the camera are perfectly integrated.
According to information confirmed by the Chinese brand Xiaomi, the Mi 360 Panoramic camera is resistant to water and dust without the need for a casing, being one of the most resistant 360º sports camera models so far.
With only 108 grams of weight and size of dimensions 78 x 67.4 x 24mm, the Xiaomi MiJia 360º, becomes a versatile model that we can use for many different moments and situations, which fits in any pocket and does not makes it awkward to transport.
As the only drawback in the design and to become a true multipurpose sports camera, we miss a preview screen or LiveView, and given the compact design and the placement of the lenses on both sides of the Xiaomi Yi 360, no It is possible to find a hole, although what we can do is preview it thanks to the Xiaomi app.
The camera has a micro-USB charging and data transfer port, which CAN NOT be used to connect an external microphone. Do you want to know why micro USB cannot be used for microphones?
Next to the MicroUSB port, we have the microSD card slot, although unfortunately, we cannot confirm the maximum capacity of microSD cards that the Xiaomi MiJia 360º accepts, although we do know that maximum speed U3 microSD cards will be necessary ( microSD card guide ).
In the lower part, we will have an international tripod connector, which will serve to connect the tripod included in the accessories of this camera.
Capture Video Xiaomi Mi Sphere 360 Camera
If we go to the captures in video format with the Xiaomi 360º, we find files captured under the.h264 codec, in 2:1 format and with resolutions and fps:
- 3.5K – 3456 x 1728 at 30fps
- 2304 x 1152 at 60fps / 30fps
- 1440 x 720 at 30fps
Photographs
In the section of static photographs, the Mi 360 Panoramic Camera offers us some images in.JPG format in which we believe that a combination of both sensors is not used, but only a 16MPx sensor is used to take them:
- 6912 x 3456px
- 3456 x 1728px
Accessories, Battery and Connectivity
If we take a look at the Sphere Camera accessories, we find a spectacular battery of no less than 1600 mAh, even larger than the Yi II 4K with 1400mAh, which gives a range of 90 minutes of recording and 75 minutes if the Wi-Fi is active.
Unfortunately, the battery is integrated inside the Xiaomi 360 camera and we will not be able to remove it or replace it with a new one.
Also in the 360º camera box, we find a micro-USB cable, as well as a small tripod, which will allow us to take spectacular 360-degree photographs without using selfie sticks, or our bare hands.
Of good quality and materials, this compact tripod allows us to place our Xiaomi VR 360º practically anywhere.
Xiaomi Mijia Selfie Stick
We have recently learned that Xiaomi has developed a selfie stick with a perfectly designed grip for this model.
Specifically, it is called Xiaomi Mijia Extendable Selfie Stick Remote Shutter, which means that, in addition to being an extendable selfie stick, it also has control to take pictures with this camera from the camera handle itself.
Connectivity
Regarding connectivity, we find the classic connection via WiFi, as well as Bluetooth connectivity, which will allow us to connect the Xiaomi Mi Sphere 360 Camera to our smartphone terminal, as well as remote controllers via Bluetooth.
If what you need is the Wi-Fi key for Xiaomi Mijia 360, it is quite simple: “12345678” (without quotes) and you will easily have a connection to the camera via Wi-Fi.
Broadcast live with Xiaomi Mijia 360
If you have ever thought about whether you can make live-video or live-streaming from your Xiaomi Mi Sphere, we leave you the link to a tutorial on how to make direct with Xiaomi Mi Panoramic.
Worth Buying Camera Xiaomi 360
As we have already been warned, the 360-degree or surround sports camera sector is growing by leaps and bounds, and Xiaomi does not want to miss this train.
Along with the already known, Samsung Gear 360 or LG 360 Cam, Xiaomi presents the 360 MiJia Panorama Camera, as a very strong model with great features, which will undoubtedly give a lot to talk about and above all record.
We really like its battery, design, included tripod as well as its resistance to water and dust, although the lack of a screen makes it difficult to say that it is a complete action model.
