The H7 is a circumferential type earphone, the ear cushions encompass your ears when you wear it. Without a doubt, this model falls into the low-end category. As soon as you have it in hand, you feel that the materials used in its design are not extraordinary. The helmet is mainly designed with plastic. There is only the metal-reinforced ring. The use of plastic allows to lighten the weight of the set, but the quality of the plastic leaves something to be desired. The Mpow H7 Helmet will not be damaged by the slightest impact, however, you will need to take care of it if you want it to last. In view of its asking price, one should not expect a high-end build. The H7 can be used in sedentary and nomadic modes, but be careful when handling it.
Once in the hand, the contact is very “cheap”. The finishes also correspond to the price of the hull. In the version we tested, there were some white marks that were present on the plastic lining. Impossible to remove them, but fortunately they are barely visible. The helmet is only available in black. The only thing that breaks the color monotony is the Mpow logo, which is printed in white on the outside of the earphones. The ear cups can be rotated flat (this is useful when wearing the ear cups around the neck). On the other hand, they cannot back up against the bow. It is a pity that it would have saved space and portability. The manufacturer provides a small carry bag in the box. Once placed inside, the helmet will be better protected from bumps during your travels.
The headband and ear cups are padded with memory foam, and the foam is covered with faux fur. The contact is very pleasant to the touch. The foam on the headband and earcups is thick enough. The letters “L” and “R” are printed in white inside the hoop. This visual guide allows you to position the helmet in the correct direction. Once placed on your head, the helmet is light and comfortable. It adapts to all types of bodies. You just need to adjust the headband according to the size of your head (small or large, this is not a problem for the H7). Plastic lacks robustness, but thanks to it the helmet is super light. We wear the helmet for several hours without feeling any discomfort. The earpads perfectly encompassed our ears during use. But they still lack depth and space. People with big ears will be embarrassed by the contact. So the comfort of Mpow H7 will not be optimal for all body types.
The headset uses Bluetooth technology. Wireless connection is very simple. All you have to do is turn on the headphones, start pairing, and then select the headphones in the Bluetooth menu of your device (smartphone/audio player). The connection was stable during our test. It can move up to 10 meters from its source. The H7 headphones can also be used wired when the battery is low. The audio cable is supplied in the box.
The control buttons are placed on the edge of the right atrium. You will use the “+” and “-” buttons to change the sound volume (long press) and navigate between audio tracks (short press). As for the third button, it is multifunction. You will use it to turn on/off the headset (press 1-2 seconds: power on, press 3-4 seconds: power off), start Bluetooth pairing (press 3-4 seconds when the headset is on), and pick up the hook. / hang up your phone calls). Using the headphones is very easy. In the worst case, you can refer to the user manual.
Once the headphones are powered on and paired with your smartphone/tablet or audio player, you no longer have to start your music. Well, definitely the Mpow H7once again confirms its low-end status on the sound side. Once again, headphones sold in this price range cannot work miracles. The drivers in the headphones are 40mm (if they were of excellent quality, the headphones would sell for more expensive). Sound reproduction is not catastrophic, but it is difficult to clearly distinguish all frequencies. Users looking for accurate and detailed sound can go their own way. On the isolation side, if the ear pads include your ears, outside noise will be attenuated. The helmet has enough power to use indoors and outdoors.
The Mpow H7 headset offers just over 15 hours of use in Bluetooth mode. It’s not the best performance on the market, but it’s still satisfying. We remind you that the autonomy varies according to the volume of the sound. Recharge the headset battery through the micro USB port on the right earcup. The charging cable is supplied in the box. When the battery is empty, you can use the headset in wired mode.
